Trust for Public Land
Map location: USA
Art Director: Rachel Andrade
Description: This commission represents a trifecta of my three favorite things: drawing, traveling, and biking! I was thrilled when the Trust for Public Land asked me to create an illustrated map of all their most recent rail trail projects in the United States.
Have you ever ridden your bike on a rail trail? It’s an amazing experience. Abandoned infrastructure corridors—such as old train lines—are repurposed as pedestrian/cycling paths. They are car-free and usually are surrounded by nature—they most often follow a river, as trains usually do.
From this particular list of new rail trails, I’m super interested in riding the 18 mile Legacy Trail in Sarasota and checking out the new route that (finally!) links downtown Cleveland to the Cuyahoga National Park.
Thanks to Rachel Andrade from the Trust for Public Land for hiring and working with me on this map illustration.
